February 8, 2001

This weekend: Cornell looks to stay atop the ECAC and wrap up the Ivy title

  • Friday: Cornell at Princeton (5-7-2 T8th ECAC, 2-4-0 T4th Ivy, 6-12-3 Overall)
  • Saturday: Cornell at Yale (6-8-0 T8th ECAC, 4-2-0 3rd Ivy, 10-11-0 Overall)
  • None of the injured players (McNiven, Matt McRae, Palahicky, Pierce) are expected to play

    February 2, 2001

    Two first period goals stand up as Cornell beats the Crimson, 2-1

  • Paolini scores on the power play to start the scoring four minutes in
  • Jason Kuczmanski scores his first colliegate goal, unassisted off a steal
  • Dominic Moore makes it close with a third period SHG
  • Matt Underhill (8-2-2) appears to be the man in net for the Red (23 saves)
  • The win puts Cornell alone in 1st place in the ECAC and Ivy standings

    Wieckowski and the Red finally put the Bears away at 1:17 of OT, 2-1

  • Brown scores early but Paolini ties it on the PP to start the second period
  • Matt Underhill holds off Brown with 25 saves for his 7th win
  • Pierce, McNiven, Matt McRae, Palahicky are all sit out with injuries
  • Cornell is now 3-0-4 in overtime this season

  • Matt Underhill starts his fifth straight and stops 26 of 27
  • Doug Murray receives a DQ for fighting after the game and will miss Saturday's game

    Cornell rides a three goal first period outburst to a 4-3 win over Colgate

  • Francis (SH), Baby (PP) and Mark McRae (PP) stake Cornell to a 3-0 lead
  • Wieckowski (PP) gets the game winner midway through the second period
  • Special teams supply the scoring as Cornell goes 3 of 5 on the powerplay and nets a short handed goal
  • Colgate makes it close with last minute goals in the second and third periods
  • Shane Palahicky has an apparent empty netter waved off due to penalties
  • Matt Underhill starts again and runs his record to 5-2-2
  • Ian Burt, Larry Pierce and Matt McRae are still out with injuries

    Four point weekend: Ian Burt and the Red shut out the Tigers, 3-0

  • Burt earns #1 star with his first career shutout

  • Stephen Baby assists on all three Cornell goals and leads the team with 10 points
  • The powerplay scores two goals for the second straight night (2 of 3)

    A three goal outburst in the third powers Cornell to a 4-3 win over Yale

  • Doug Murray scores the only goal of the first two periods, at 5:56 of the 1st
  • Yale roars out of the gate in the final period with 2 goals in 1:35 including a SHG
  • Cornell answers right back with a Baby PPG and a Wieckowski goal in the next 2 minutes
  • David Francis nets the game winner midway through

  • Doug Murray's last minute goal only matches a mid 3rd goal by Niagara's Karru
  • Chris Gartman starts in goal but is pulled in the second after allowing 2 goals on 12 shots

  • Clarkson jumps out to an early lead with a Murray Kuntz goal at 5:49 of the first
  • Freshman Ryan Vesce ties it up late in the second with his first CU goal

    Cornell squeaks by Brown with late goals, 2-0

  • The game is primarily a battle along the boards with few chances
  • Cornell kills off a major penalty in the third before finally getting on the board
  • The powerplay, game-winner goes off Wieckowski's skate midway through the 3rd
  • David Kozier seals the win with an EN, PPG
  • The struggling Cornell powerplay goes 2 for 3, including the empty-netter
  • Matt Underhill (1-1-0) posts his third career shutout and drops his goals against to 0.50
